There's a great bit in an episode of Mad Men where Don is with a bunch of counterculture beats/hipster types. The police raid another apartment in the building and all the hipsters freak out because this means they can't leave without being arrested.

When Don (dressed as ever in a sharp suit and hat) goes to the door, they cry "But you can't go out there!". He replies, "You can't, but I can." or something similar and then leaves, nodding to the police as he goes.

Regrettably, at airports they tend to search everyone.

It is interesting though, when you notice people treating you differently based on how you're dressed.
