Jan. 7th, 2003 09:54 pmAnnoyed at myself today. Work isn't going very well, largely because I've not been trained in the system I'm working with. However, I was far too tired at work (despite getting 7 hours sleep) with the result that my concentration span was down. I'm getting an early night tonight and making sure that tomorrow I can attack the work fresh and make some decent headway. The last thing I want to do is get demoralised 3 days into a new job.
Having said this, this is fairly standard for new trainees - it always takes some time to get into a new system (especially one as big as this) so it's to be expected that I'd spend the first few weeks/months feeling stupid as I pick up the experience. I just need to keep plugging away.

Date: 2003-01-08 01:23 am (UTC)I worked at one place for over 18 months and still didn't understand what the hell was going on. It didn't stop me from doing the work that I needed to do, as I am quite good at taking things in isolation, but it did mean that I often couldn't take that extra step and improve/expand things.
I've been here over 3 months now and I still have only the slightest clue about limited parts of the system.
Don't worry about it
