I much prefer both the sensation and the smell of condom-free sex but have, in a long and chequered sexual history,only ever countenanced condom-free sex in four long-term relationships, hence ticking the box that says both are equally good.

I would say I don't feel I'm actively missing anything when using condoms, but an extra degree of sensation and - psychological intimacy - is there when they aren't used.

Sex without condoms feels very different, generally doesn't last as long for me due to the increased stimulation, and results in a lot of mess (and paranoia when you're trying not to get pregnant). I also find it slightly uncomfortable for a couple of physical reasons which would be TMI. This means that we hardly ever have sex without condoms. Sex with condoms is great.

I suspect the age of the respondent will have much to do with the response. I came of age sexually in a time in which Aids was unknown. The STDs one could get were treatable (with one exception), and people were generally more carefree. I don't like the feel of condoms and never have, and my sexual activity post-Aids has been greatly constrained as a result.

I kind of need an option for 'I am a woman and have never been in a sexual situation with a partner who had the right equipment for wearing a condom.'

I answered 'I have never had sex with a condom', though, because I haven't.

The real problem with condoms is that they completely ruin the sponaneity of the thing. Having to pause mid foreplay, open the draw, find the packet, unwrap the damn thing (never easy in my experience) and get it on takes time, when you're pretty much ready just to get on with things.

The points about less mess are very valid though.

Of the flavored condoms I've used (Glyde brand), I feel vanilla is the best - enough scent to mask any rubbery smell, but least obtrusive scent-wise.

I've also tried their black condoms which were advertised as licorice-flavored, but which smelled very strange to me - like pepperoni. I'm not sure if licorice smells strange when mixed with rubber, or if I had an odd batch, or if they were really unflavored and only mis-marketed (the condoms themselves did not say they were flavored).

The pub round the corner has a machine offering whisky condoms. I can only imagine what rubbery whisky would smell like!

Said machine also bears the warning, "do not drive whilst using this product."

They have them in N.Ireland too. Often these have been the talk of the table in the pub, but no one has ever ventured to open one, and see how bad it is!

I choose it feels better without.
I suspect that it is just phycological as the sex I have had without condoms has been far more fulfilling than with. That would be due to the times I have not used them have been in long term intimate relationships. It's more intimate without condoms (in my opinion)..oh and I like the mess - it's part of the fun
