Guillermo Del Toro in talks to direct The Hobbit.

I had it on andyduckerlinks yesterday, and was expecting it to show up in fannish places at some point. But apparently not!

Oh, absolutely. I got it from SFWire and Bureau42. But I was expecting my, y'know, friends to be excited about it.

Well, I'm pretty excited at the prospect. However, I was really hoping for him to be doing the In The Mountains of Madness adaptation that he's been linked to.

I'm not a massive fan of The Hobbit but I'm pleased to see Del Toro given a big budget to play with and the scope to let his vision loose a bit

Probably everyone knows but is there any overlap of casting with LotR (I'm thinking McKellen really)

I believe that pretty much all the actors said "We'll do it if Jackson's doing it!" and with Jackson in the exec producer role it should be good to go.
