I need a word that means "a person's connectedness to the world around them, and ability to understand it on an emotional level, allowing them to make intuitive leaps about it."

Basically, I need a name for a stat denoting intelligence that's not pure logic.

Edit: EQ or Emotional Intelligence are too specific to dealing with people. I think that of the suggestions so far I like "insight" the best. Still open to any other suggestions people might have though.

Empathy?

Well the verb you want is apprehend, but the corresponding noun would be apprehension, which in common usage has different connotation.

There is just the phrase 'intuitive intelligence', though that's a bit wanky.

Why?

Also, have you found your rapper yet?

I would say, in a totally pop psychology way; emotional intelligence.

My family's matriarch says "empathy" not sympathy.

Unfortunately, it's a phrase, but "good at acquiring clues".

Sounds a bit like Heinlein's "Grok", or Adam's "Sass" (as in "Sass that hoopy andrewducker, there's a frood who really knows where his towel is") though both are verbs.

So let's noun-ify (ouch!) that "Sass" to be, er, a "sassanach"!

So Grokage perhaps?

Yes, I read the post, and though "you want a word for 'good at making intuitive leaps'? What's wrong with intuition?" Insight is shinier, but I think intuition fits the concept slightly better to me.

I got interested in the concept of "empaths" once. Once you read about empaths, you never get sympathy and empathy mixed up.
