Which isn't so much a science fiction story as a meditation on SF, society, information, culture, etc.

Why, exactly, have none of you bastards ever pointed me at it before?

I like reading stuff like this, but I also can't help but be amused by it, and hopefully not in a derogatory way. To put it another way...I like thinking about this sort of stuff, like Plato's forms and stuff like that, but I also find it...unrealistic is the word that's coming to mind, but it's more that they're describing a world that hasn't gotten here yet.

Oh, absolutely. It felt like it was taking the concept and pushing it to it's (somewhat over the top) conclusion.

But isn't that what SF is supposed to do?
