Following the lead of Scott Kurtz, here's my Trek Films, sorted into order of goodness:

Wrath of Khan
The Undiscovered Country
The Search for Spock
The Voyage Home
Insurrection
First Contact
The Motion Picture
Generations
The Final Frontier

It only remains to see where Nemesis fits in.

I never realised you were so touchy-feely Andy. I mean, putting Insurrection before First Contact?
Bloody Hippy!

Yeppers. Big silver platters, awesome digital (CLV) or analog (CAV) quality. They used to demo "DVDs" on those and SuperVHS machines, before they were finally able to deliver on all the technological promises they made. Kind of pointless now that DVDs can deliver the same or better quality and not take up the whole height of a shelf.

They were really popular in Japan, and had a hard-core fan-base in the US. I liked them because movies came out for general release on LD the same time they came out on rental release for VHS. Paying $35 for The Crow is a whole lot better than $195 for a videotape that wears out, or waiting a year or more for it to hit general release on VHS. Well, back then, anyways.
