Fire Alarm!

Last night, wandering back from seeing Guy in Hospital, we passed a bunch of fire engines. Fair enough, I thought, a fire. Must happen occasionally.

Apparently it was bigger than I thought. Basically, a 13 building area smack in the middle of Old Town (dating from the 15th century) has been badly damaged in the fire.

F*ck me. A friend told me on the phone when I was on the train earlier and then I saw it on the news. Apparently the fire started in La Belle Angele... it was odd seeing my *home* on the news and on fire. I was like 'look, I used to live there and I'm going back soon' and also 'oh dear, it appears to be burning to the ground.'
