I don't like Marriage. However, if it's done right, I'm wholly in favour of this.

I completely agree on both not liking marriage and heartily approving of this possible change. Every other First World nation is moving that way, meanwhile the US has inane laws like the "Defense of Marriage Act" [sigh].

Sometimes I think that the US is in the final stages of the "old" trying desperately to hold onto their ideals and power bases before everything crumbles into something new.

And sometimes I think that America is full of religious reactionaries and fruitcakes.

And sometimes I don't think about America at all. I find this to be the best time.

I think both A & B are equally true. I suspect eventually the new will win, but that it will be a longer and harder fight here than in most of the First World.

I envy you that, I definitely wish I could think about this nation considerably less.
