Got a call from Erin at four thirty who said in a rather panicked voice "I can't walk."
Having ascertained that she was lying in pain on the floor but not actually paralysed from the waist down I firmly informed her that I wasn't actually a doctor and she should be calling NHS 24. They helpfully organised an ambulance for 4 hours later, so I finished what I was doing at work and headed over to keep her company.
As i neared the chip shop five minutes away she called to say the ambulance had arrived two hours early. Abandoning all thoughts of dinner I sprinted over and arrived in time to let the cat in from the back garden, use the toilet and stick a couple of things in Erin's backpack. They then supported her downstairs, sat her in the back of the ambulance and drove her over to the infirmary.
On the way they're keeping her back spasms to a minimum with nitrous oxide - of which I am entirely envious.
If anyone has any messages then I'll pass them on.

Oh dear, if you could keep us up to date and let Miss Erin know that both myself and Connie are worried about her and hoping she gets better soon.

Dude! That's rather alarming, give her my love and inappropriate supermarket humping.

4 hours to get an ambulance??!! Or even 2 hours??!!! I hope that had she been in danger of death or permanent injury, that she would have been able to get one right away?
