This video of the French version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire asks the ever-so-tricky question "Which of these orbits the Earth? The Moon, The Sun, Mars or Venus?" Not only does the contestant not know the answer, when he asks the audience their answer is....well, let's just say it's not quite right.

Cheers to [livejournal.com profile] elfs for linking to this one - the lack of education is just staggering.

That was awesome. Of course the only thing that makes it funnier is that it's the French.

Back around 1989, I was driving to work (running a pharmacy) when I heard a Radio One report on a survey that found 40% of the population were unclear on the Copernican theory. I did my own straw poll. Yup, about half the people I quizzed thought the sun went round the earth, not vice versa.

My french friend is convinced that the audience did that on purpose because it was such a stupid question to ask.

With the context given, I loved the host telling the crowd to answer if they know.
