Watched Sid & Nancy for the first time this evening.  Grimly, horribly depressing, watching two people completely fuck up their lives with no idea what they were doing, or why.

Then went for a walk down to Portobello beach, where the tide was so far out I was beginning to think that the estuary had somehow magically emptied itself - in the dark it was hard to see the water until we almost waded into it.  Still, remarkably pretty, especially watching gulls take off in two directions at once, peeling away from the ground as if choreographed.

Gary Oldman did such a fantastic job in that movie that even now when I think of Sid Vicious I think of Gary Oldman portraying Sid Vicious.

This reflects poorly on me to admit this, but this is one of the the best line movie lines ever: "Sid, what about the farewell drugs!?!"

It takes a certain fuck-upedness--and you should be glad you lack it--to find much humor in that movie. Sadly, I laugh a lot when I watch that film. People suck and sometimes I am one of them :(
