It being 10:27pm Eastern Time in the US, I assume that most of you _haven't_ just come back from a midnight screening of Revenge of the Sith. Over here on British Summer Time, however, I have.
Review to possibly follow, but in general I have to say I rather enjoyed it. The direction is now fine, even if the action scenes aren't quite as gripping as they could be. The dialogue is really the only let down, and apart from a couple of moments even that wasn't actively bad. And it ties it all together nicely, with a few throwaway lines sorting out the major fanboy gripes - almost as if Lucas was thinking "How can I answer their questions without actually telling them anything?"
Anyway, if you've seen the other 5 then you're going to see it, if you aren't already a fan this is the worst possible place to start.

Date: 2005-05-19 11:43 am (UTC)Fantastic 4 looked pretty shoddy until the latest trailer, when there was some good dialogue, which made it look at least watchable, verging onto good.
War of the Worlds I'm waiting for the reviews - although it looks like "Independence Day with a decent script" which does it for me :->

Date: 2005-05-19 12:30 pm (UTC)You should check out Kung Fu Hussle, it looks hilarious.
Not a load of old sith after all
Date: 2005-05-19 08:12 pm (UTC)However, this film definitely suffers from the lack of a Han Solo type character. I was thinking about why I don't seem to be into these new movies as much as the old and I think that it's because the atmosphere is slightly wrong. The chemistry between Han and Chewie, Han Leah and R2 and C3PO is what helps make the old trilogy so entertaining. Light relief as well as big battles and drama. Had ROTS had some more of that I'd have said this was the best film to date.
"It is my love that makes you so beautiful."
"So you're saying your love has blinded you?"
