It's the Gruniad again!

I sent a letter into the Guardian Online section, which was published in this week's letters page.

I got an email from them during the week saying:

We would like to use your letter to Online, but we need to add a geographical area. Are you in London?

I replied with the following:

I'm in extremely North London.

Or "Edinburgh" as we call it.

Can you guess where they actually put as my address?

The Guardian can take some strange angles on whatever you write to them, as I found out when I was querying their dubious photos.

They did eventually respond with a commentary that mused on their approach to picture manipulation. They discuss that the original photo was published with the assumption that "North Korean Central News Agency" would indicate that it was obviously propaganda and, by implication, fake.

What kind of closed question madness is that?

If you say "no" do they come back with "Oh. Are you in Surrey?" (and so forth by process of elimination?)

I suppose they could have thought you used Edinburgh as a mocking name for your area because it was so far North in London. The idea that you could live outside London is probably banned as subversive thinking
