Getting programs from Tivo->DVD is a real hassle.  It consists of:
1) Copy show from Tivo to PC (pretty darn easy, to be honest, once I got the network card into my Tivo and installed the software)
2) Mark up the video to show the start/end points and remove ads
3) Transcode to MPEG.
4) Retranscode to 720x576, rathe than the 352x576 that Tivo records in (but DVD players tend not to like)
5) Create a DVD menu, etc (using the very spiffy and easy to use TMPGEnc DVD Author)
6) Burn this to an actual DVD

If they'd just put a %^&%^& DVD burner in a PVR I'd be perfectly happy.  Oh wait, they have - they just charge about £1000 for them.

As an alternative, you can purchase a DVD player that plays Divx encoded files, and then just take the raw Tivo footage and encode it into Divx or Xvid. Plus, since I download all of my normal shows, I can just burn them to a disc and play them as if they were normal shows, as I don't need to encode the avis to anything.

I use the DVP642, by Philips, and it has the ability to play pretty much any current format, although I don't know about Quicktime. Also, it has a really really easy region free crack, just open the tray, type 7 8 9 on the remote, hit okay, and then type in the # of the region code you want, 0 for region free of course.

Or the now, even. My player is WAY old and plays them. The much newer portable one doesn't, unfortunately :-(

What is transcodes' syntax for something like that?

I'm far too lazy to actually, well, you know, read the man page...

Lol, I normally can. Transcode is the open source mother converter of video formats. I usually use quicktime pro, but it can't do anything WMA / WMV due to M$ being evil. I've been meaning to read the man page....

And CLR? What does the R stand for? CLI I get, but...
