Have you seen the lead article about Ellen MacArthur in today's G2? I almost didn't read it myself, because I find her so tedious, but it does point out that most of her so-called "achievements" are nothing of the kind, because the heroic age of global explanation is long over and those doing this sort of thing to "test themselves" are just self-indulgent.

I just object to all the moaning. If she doesn't like the loneliness, the wetness of the water, the effort and so forth, she should just come home. No-one would mind. Otherwise just get on wi'it and tell us when you've either (a) finished or (b) sank.
