Hahahaha - took me a minute to figure out what that was ;-)

Surely if you forwarded the video message you'd be okay?

Int he original japanese version, she could manifest through any reflective surface- she just had an affection for TVs, for obvious reasons.

Bah, you should just be glad I didn't tell you the *other* details of the Japanese version- sure, the special effects weren't as fancy, but there's head-trip stuff in there that could make your hair turn white!

The Japanese version is the one I've seen (AND I'M TRYING TO FORGET!)

I've not seen the US version but I'm assuming it's instantly forgettable, in the style of most blockbusters. :-)

Actually, no, it was reasonablly faithful to the source- and as noted, the special effects were much more impressive- however, they were forced to take out some of the japansese cultural elements (Otherwise risk being rendered nonsensical), and changed up some of the plot twists, and added some elements that seemed silly if you really thought about them (Though at the time, you were so busy being scared silly you didn't notice.)

All in all, it was a much more visceral film- as my friend once said, Ringu kicks you in the head, The Ring kicks you in the stomach.

There's an ad for shampoo on the telly at the moment, showing a dark haired girl with her hair brushed down over her face.

I'm guessing they don't expect to sell a lot of their product to people who've seen The Ring.
