Oh, the technology

Lagging the usual 5 years behind the times, I am sitting on Lilian's sofa, feeling wonderfully excited because I'm connected to the internet without the aid of wires!

(Actually there are many, many wires connecting the flat to the internet, but there is no wire connecting this laptop to the router, about 15 feet away. Although it is plugged into the power cable)

Wireless good :) At the moment I'm making do with 10m of cat5 and well, it's just not the same damn it!

Wireless isn't quite as good as it's made out to be. I've got a couple of stations here wi-fi'd up and doing any kind of large file transfer is hellish. Slow as a snail and most of them don't manage to keep the connection alive long enough to finish (and we're talking 3 metres of line-of-sight here).

To this end I'm about to lay about 50m of CAT5 around the house. Time to charge the drill, methinks.
