#5: is it the general direction of Bezos' AMZN towards serving the worst part of American population, I wonder. "Watch 'Melania'!" is the meaning.

Not now, ancient bacteria found frozen in cave resistant to 10 types of antibiotics!

Uh. That is, I'm confused: Why would the ancient bacteria be resistant to more antibiotics that modern bacteria aren't? I assume that's something specific, not "antibiotics work against some things and not others and no-one looked for any against these bacteria before", but I'm not sure.

I think I found the press release, but it doesn't explain any more why that would be the case https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1115156

Although we KNEW it was going on.

I spent some time at the end of last year talking to a woman who has published a book about the suicide of her teenage trans daughter, Alice, who became unable to cope any longer with the waiting lists.

I mostly stick to sites I trust, and use Firefox (on Linux and Android) which I believe protects me from many security issues. I clamp down hard on cookies too.

On most sites I don't see many or inappropriate ads; if I do I realize that I have strayed onto click-bait sites and abandon ship (or so I tell myself).

I don't pay for access to many sites (I have no income) and accept that quality sites have costs, so need the ad income. Don't ad-blockers kill that ?

Today's experience has made me believe that the Independent site is now a click-bait site, just like the the tabloid newspaper sites (though the journalism may be considerably better). I had assumed that they would quality-control their ads, just as they do on the paper edition (I presume).

I"m guessing. Maybe our antibiotics act on particlar parts of modern bacteria that are less important to the cave bacteria ? These bacteria haven't been feeding off people so will be exposing some parts/processes less than modern bacteria.

just as they do on the paper edition (I presume).

I see that there has been no paper edition for a decade.
