Sophia just read the instructions on the couscous packet, followed them all (with a little help with the boiling water and trickier words) and is now off eating the results.
Feels like a bit of a milestone.

Good age for that. My daughter at 5 wrote (draw) a recipe for a soup, then made her soup, under my supervision (she forgot to add salt, that's the only thing I had to remind her).

It's such a pleasure watching kids grow.

Excellent Sophia! She must be CHUFFED! An electric kettle makes the boiling part so much safer.

There are children's cookbooks, but your own family's eating habits and tastes are a much better guide for her. If she can handle the kettle, she can make a lot of quick foods (instant porridge for example) and drinks!

That's impressive. At that age I think I was "helping" my mother make cakes, which I think mostly involved stirring the batter.
