9) Very interesting, thank you. Meanwhile, I dislike a lot of "modern" headphones/speakers which, imo, put too much emphasis on bass sounds and where mids and highs aren't as clear. I think they often fit a certain type of music and not the ones I listen to. I wonder what Chi-Fi tech would sound like to me.

It would be fascinating to try a few different "tunings" out.

For speakers in a room, the room is a huge impact on the sound (as I know from many live gigs and some studio time). Setting EQ for a room is a real pro task. Some units have some automatic setup capability. Audiophiles and music engineers also treat rooms. We had hand built speakers and bass traps in the living room back in Guildford...

I hate bassy headphones. I want absolutely flat response, probably partly because in the past I did a lot of music creation and mixing. I have some ancient Sennheiser studio cans and in the past had a specific model of Sennheiser wired in ears that were marketed as for listening to speech and had pretty much flat response.

I hate all Bose headphones but back in the day they had the best noise cancelling...

I don't think headphones should apply EQ, but I guess depending on your components I can see the need for tuning to get even a neutral sound.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s with cheap music gear and love 60s-80s music. I bet I'm absolutely FINE with Chi-fi ...

I now have various relatively cheap Bluetooth earbuds that don't tend to be bassy.
