Sleep: Slight Return

6 weeks ago I posted about how sleep was, after 6 years of being terrible, getting better.

We then had 15 days of Gideon sleeping appallingly, waking up multiple times per night, and no explanation about why he was so grumpy. Until his eardrum exploded and it turned out his cold had turned into an ear infection for the first time in a year.

And then we had three weeks of Sophia having a cough that woke her up multiple times every single night. With me having to make her a pillow throne so she could sleep semi-upright, and put her back on it multiple times a night.

Which merged into two weeks of Gideon doing likewise.

Which brings us to this week. When, on Tuesday, for the first time since I wrote that post, what feels like an age of the earth ago, they both slept through the night. And then on Wednesday Gideon's cough woke him up three times before we gave up and I swapped beds with him.

And then, although Gideon still has a cough, they slept through the night again last night.

And today I feel vaguely human again for the first time in 6 weeks.

Fingers crossed his cold finally goes away over the next couple of days, and this sleep thing continues.

Oh god almighty. Fingers crossed it does continue that's awful.

One thing we have for our champion cougher is a bed wedge, which goes under the mattress and is a little more stable than the pillow throne, although we do still have to go in and replace him quite often because he tends to travel in his sleep.

I found it tailed off a bit when Mikey hit8 or 9.

Godspeed. I used to get horrible earaches as a kid. I remember my mom would take a washcloth and warm it in the oven to place over my ear. Was about the best comfort I found. Those things are so painful. :( hope everyone recovers soon!
