It's a cool idea but I think I don't understand why it would work at all. I guess the increased generation of "in sun all the time, with no atmosphere" is more than the loss of transmitting it again in one big beam through the atmosphere? In theory, if it could be built? Or that it gives power after the sun goes down, better than sending it through wires from further west?

I am in that Cerebus niche, and that's an excellent dissection. I gave up on Cerebus when it started to become noxious (the text-heavy pages didn't help either), and ever since then I've wanted to know what happened without wanting to spend the time reading it. It seems like I was right to get out.

I actually read the entire series as it was coming out -- despite being quite clear by issue 150 that it was falling off a cliff, I was fascinated by the sheer bat-shittery (and amused by the occasional good issue that wasn't entirely infuriating). I can't recommend the second half of the series in any meaningful sense, and considered dropping it at least a dozen times, but it was a sometimes-interesting ride.

(I suspect I won't read all the way through the dissection, but it certainly start out with some sound viewpoints.)
