I gotta say, my increasing enthusiasm for tearing down (nearly*) all the barriers to immigration is in no small part motivated by my desire to piss off the people who want to build them higher.

* I don't suppose that it'd make much of a difference, really, in the sheer numbers of serious criminals in any particular country, but I guess, as a sop to those people, we can continue to exclude rapists and murderers.
