Raising the school starting age... What will that do to the availability and cost of childcare for the under-6's?

An excellent question - does it mean that "1st year of school" becomes "play time" or does it mean "first year of school is now parents paying for nursery". Many models, so we'll have to see which way they jump.

Either disappoints me but they might be short of budget and not sure what to cut.

I'm all for starting education early (even if small-child classes don't look like formal lessons!), in Ohio we ended up paying for a private pre-kindergarten, but most parents won't have such means.

Not far enough carefully enough, apparently, what a misleading headline/intro: still education-of-children, just don't call it school for a while longer. Thank you for pointing out that they're envisaging exactly the don't look like formal lessons I was wanting. (Sorry, I grew up in a world where going to school included nursery, etc. at the same site.) Reading other comments, I do hope that name change isn't about exactly that make-the-parents-pay question.

Always a delight to find another fan of the best Coen Brothers movie!

Well, it might spoil your delight a bit when I tell you that I had to look up who the Coen Brothers are. And then that I've seen only one other film on the list, which was The Big Lebowski. Which I abandoned halfway through because it hadn't engaged me at all.

Still, Hudsucker Proxy it great!
