On the SF Bulletin Board at work there was a discussion of people's top 5 endings (of series or films). Mine are below the LJ-Cut, feel free to add your own (or link to tem if you prefer).


In no particular order:
Blakes 7 - Screen goes black, shots are heard. Completely traumatised me as a kid.
Blade Runner (director's cut, obviously) - "Like tears in the rain..." <sniff>
Brazil - "But, but, they can't leave it like that!"
Empire Strikes Back - "Daaad! How long do I have to wait for the next one?"
Buffy Series 5 - "She saved the world. A lot."

Buffy Season 2. Blackes Season series 3 (Zen being lost), The Black Hole (as also traumatic for kids), Genesis of the Daleks and Planet of the Apes

I'd agree with the Buffy Season 2 and 5.

The Tim Robbins trilogy of Jacob's Ladder, Arlington Road, and Bob Roberts.

Star Wars: a New Hope (Weird how we even have to use the "Name" for the film that was once just Star Wars now)

Can I have the end of "Galaxy Quest"? or "High PLains Drifter" (its fantasy...just...)?

Buffy Season 3 (just to be different).
I thought both the ends of Season 3 and season 5 would have made great endings to the series. Have yet to see 6 or 7.

Forever Knight series finale, the part with Lacroix and Nick at the end. Very moving for me, and it seemed very appropriate.

Xena, not necessarily everything about the finale show, but at least the part with Gabrielle sailing away on the ship at the end. It was nice.
(aww... sniff! i want to see Xena and Gaby again!)

E.T. - glowing fingertip and "I'll be right here..."

Star Wars Episode 1 - the very end of the credits, with the short sound of darth vader's breathing. ooh, that was a neat touch. it made me all tingly.

the one Jackie Chan movie where he had gotten seriously injured in one of the stunts, and they actually showed that at the end, including with the sound of the ambulance leaving... certainly left me with a feeling of concern, and realizing how dangerous it can be doing stunts.

well, i don't know if those are my top 5, but they're only ones i can come up with right now.
