My current television is 32" 720p, it's more than adequate. I've found I simply get used to whatever it is.

Heh. What I really fear is when stuff I want is available only on BluRay, not DVD.

You can tell you haven't really properly hit age-related longsightedness yet. I had a head start (having always been longsighted). I can't focus at anything less than about 5m these days, so DVD /720p on an old plasma screen is just FINE for me. I could not make out any sharper without about +1 glasses (at 2-5m). I have awesome varifocals but you can't watch TV lying down sideways with them. DVD quality on the plasma is perfect with my naked eyes. My brain's been trained over my life to that level of unsharpness as normal for TV.

I find BluRay and older CGI (Lord of the Rings, Aliens) don't mix well. The CGI stands out horribly and doesn't "blend in". Even on the plasma.
