Michael Meacher outlines the "US knew about 9/11" conspiracy in the Guardian. Some very good points.

Hmmm.

I don't necessarily see benign despotism as a bad form of government, even on a global scale, but I find the US style insufficiently benign to be comfortable.

I have always thought, that if it's largely about energy supplies, why is the US not then concentrating its collective commercial and scientific ingenuity on being the forst with alternative and renewable energy generation? They could boost their economy fantastically and even attempt to corner the market.

If it's all about global domination of a different sort, then I can see that controllable energy sources are more important, but this is ludicrously short sighted - conventional fuels will run out at some point, you can't realistically base your long term strategies on them. Why not get the jump and try to get into the next generation of energy supply?

There is still a missing piece. I can't believe that it could be basic stupidity, not as an aggregate.
