Date: 2022-01-14 04:05 pm (UTC)Closest past equivalent in Scotland would be the Scottish Labour Party which split in 1976, and quickly sank into oblivion. The argument here is that a separate Scottish Conservative party would have more support than that, and maybe it would.
For clarity: the Ulster Unionist Party has always been administratively separate from the rest of the Conservatives as well, but it didn't politically split until 1972, at which time it itself was also splintering into separate groups like the DUP.
