Wait, there really is a Leeds? it isn't just a fictional architectural wasteland created as a dystopian setting for the Laundry novels by Charles Stross?

'isnât' -- is this some new way of spelling the Scots dialect?

It's nice. But it's not a strip. And because of the way it twists, it has 2 faces.

I'm in several minds about the Scottish Government's claim that Scotland's electricity usage is close to 100% renewable.

On the one hand it's no more or less true than an energy company selling you 100% (or 97%) renewable energy, by which they mean they will buy renewable energy equal to your electricity usage and not that the actual electricity supplied from the Grid to your house will be 100% renewable. Although I note that ads for 100% renewable electricity do have a footnote disclaimer to that effect.

Second thing I'm thinking about is what the actual figures for generation, usage, export and gross and net renewable percentage say about how electricity grids and energy networks in general deal with the transition to renewable energy. Having a developed nation, even a small one, with 100% renewable electricity is good. Finding out that actually they timeshift quite a lot of their consumption by relying on non-renewable electricity from abroad, not so good.

On the third hand, what's the purpose behind the message in the claim?

Fourthly, who is responsible for the non-renewable portion of Scotland's electricity generation and consumption, or indeed, who is responsible for the renewable portion of Scotland's electricity generation? The Scottish government can facilitate more renewables on the grid in Scotland. Lots of energy policy is reserved. Scotland has a natural abundance of wind regardless of the policy of any government. Are Scottish electricity consumers and voters more pro-renewable electricity than elsewhere? If so, did this make a difference?

Transparency International's famous index measures perceptions of corruption, so its next report might be of interest to you in terms of the UK's position on the index.

I love the 3-D mobius. I followed it back to the original poster and found that they have a bunch more animations posted (though I feel that one is still one of the best)
