I'm not sure calling Tories scum is an unpopular move.

Seeing that Britain First is back in business as a political party today runs a danger of re-framing that.

Dear Spike Milligan made the comment that when police raided such places, they always took aways a box of 'appliances'.

He reckoned it was a corrupt way to get guys to join the police.

They joined to find out what the 'appliances' were! :o)

Is there some universal law that dictates that the Labour Party or the Liberal Party before them has to pick the moments of optimum Tory shitfuckery to self-destruct?

You could call it the Lloyd George Law or the Ramsay McDonald Law maybe...

Ever find yourself wondering where we'd be now if John Smith hadn't died when he did?

Also do I remember incorrectly, or was there a drama about a coup against a Labour government led by a leader who was very popular and might actually achieve things?

Ah yeah, when all the 'I'm Tory Plan B' anagram postcards changed from Tony Blair MP to Tony Blair PM...

Shit! Am I getting old and cynical?

1) Does anyone still remember when Bevan said the Tories were "lower than vermin"? They don't make invective like that any more.

2) Somebody really really does not want to have a political party of mass appeal. Kind of misses the point of having a political party, doesn't it?

4) I really don't want to go to war against my own body.

6) Sounds like a great construction method, so long as you don't ever have to get in and repair it.

10) Seriously, I've found myself completely accepting of people's purely internal beliefs no matter how weird they are - sometimes to those people's surprise - but when they want to impose their beliefs on society, I'm against it.

The account of the cable diagnosis and repair is amazing. Modern industrial life is infinitely more complex than most people realise, and remains analogue.

I don't understand why that article on metabolism insists that aerobic exercise doesn't help muscle tone, though. Half an hour of swimming every day for six months (plus eating a bit less) not only got rid of aoround 15 kilos of fat, it was excellent for both my cardiovascular fitness and my muscle tone. A formerly supermorbidly obese chap of my acquaintance began his weight-loss programme by deleting food-delivery apps from his phone and doing wall pushups (he got me doing them as well, they're great for whole-body toning). There was absolutely no need for high-intensity anything.
