Among the women who read your journal, there is (pretty close to) a 50/50 split between the women who clearly hate shaving but regard it as a necessary chore, and the women who never shave. Okay, maybe 60/40. But still close: the scattered few in between presumably don't hate shaving quite as much but still assume it's necessary.
Wonder what this poll would turn out like with a larger population?
I think that in the general population that more people would be in the "must shave" section, but that I tend to attract a more intelligent, fringe element who don't just go along with culutural trends.
Personally, I prefer hairy women. Hairless women look fake to me.
Bill Bryson made a comment that annoyed me in Neither Here Nor There, about European women not shaving. He goes on for a paragraph about how it's just wrong, because body hair is gross and ugly.
And I've wanted for years to be able to ask him "So, Bill, what hair care removal products do you use?"
I've never seen Bryson, except in cover photos, so I have no idea if he is "an hairy man", but he's straight, so I'm prepared to bet he doesn't shave his armpit hair - or his chest hair, if he has any.
Anyway. It would be interesting to link to your poll from feminist. But not if you object, obviously.
well, I dont know about you, but my self image was formed by 13, and one day I looked down in shock and thought "bloody hell I look like a chimp". I'd keep head hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, and nothing else.
I've shaved everyday since I was 13, rain or shine, and you know I often cut my face removing the last vestiges of hair. But in my self image it does not belong there.
But, but -- not shaving doesn't cost anything: no razors, no shaving gel, no wax, no depilary lotion, no band-aids in case of cuts... no electrolysis, no pain...

My leg hair's too wonky and patchy to look good. Same with the nipple hair.

It's fucking scary that the 'perfect body' looks like a 13 year old.
