Genuinely wonder if, if we uploaded a human consciousness in to a spaceship whether that entity would be recognisably post-human or not.

Yeah, exactly that sort of thing.

You might have memories but if your memory is a memory of a human sense of smell and you don't have that what does your memory mean now.

And over time, as your new memories are not human memories of experiencing the world with human senses and responding to the universe with human urges what happens?

There's an H. M. Hoover book that is tangentially about a spaceship with a consciousness. The Lost Star. It's one of my favourites.

I'd have recommended it heartily even as late as 1997, but as with all of McCaffrey's work, I find it seriously problematic now.
