First vaccine yesterday (Astra Zeneca). I got my letter last week, and had been assigned to Queen Margaret University - a drive-through site. And rebooking would have pushed out my appointment by a few weeks, which wasn't ideal. Thankfully Anindya offered to give me a lift there - and then it turned out that our neighbour two doors up (and mother of Sophia's best friend) had her appointment in the same place at exactly the same time, so she could give me a lift there.

We got there easily, and about twenty minutes early, but they were happy for us to drive straight in to be seen. We didn't have to get out at all - just show them our invitation letters, confirm our names and dates of birth, and be stabbed in the arm. It was the least painful stabbing I've ever had, to the point where I wasn't sure they'd done anything more than touch it against my arm.

Until the side-effects kicked in at about 11pm last night. We'd just gotten Sophia over to sleep (she's also a bit ill, with the latest of a series of colds that she's brought home from nursery and given to the rest of us), and suddenly I started having whole body shivers in a way I'd never had before. It took me a few minutes to work it out, but it turned out that any muscle that I tensed then started vibrating in a really uncomfortable way. Thankfully if I lay still and relaxed all of my muscles it went away (although I still felt very cold), so I took some paracetamol, got into bed, and used the mindfulness I'd learned to totally relax.

I woke up at 3am feeling a bit better, but still shivery. And then at 4:30 feeling weak as a kitten, but no longer shaking. At 6am I heard noises from Sophia's room and went and put her blanket back on her (she didn't actually wake up for this, she was just whimpering on her bed), and then woke up fully around 7:30, just feeling a bit nauseous and icky internally, like I had a nasty cold (but without the blocked or running nose).

An hour later, having been to the bathroom, I felt an awful lot better. And now I still feel a bit off kilter, but not actually *bad*. So we're going to get ourselves ready and go find something fun to do!

(Fingers crossed I don't relapse on the bus)

Yeesh ! Well while not great at least it wasn't long lasting or more serious.
I only got a sore shoulder above the injection site that lasted a day and a half.

Well the potentially bigger side effects come in 12 weeks with the other stabbie stab. Not being a huge fan of stabbie stabs I have quite a bit of trepidation for it. Stuff crossed we don't get any serious sideys with the second one.

Huzzah!

Glad to hear some good news! :o)

Another friend on here has been complaining about catching every cold going from small person attending nursery, so you're not alone!

I love that between having fever / chills and entertaining two small children, you make time to make sure that your public is updated.

Fwiw, he and I have now had both and no side effects to speak of. That was the Pfizer.

Sorry you've had a bit of reaction.

My arm is sore but otherwise no effects.

I was enjoying the enjoyment of the marshals at QMU, styling it like a Formula One pitcrew.
