Next time you're in the area you definitely want to visit Dean Village. The architecture down there is like nothing anywhere else in Edinburgh.

(And you can do lovely walks along the river in both directions)

Clearly I should explore Edinburgh a little more.

I highly recommend the walk along the Water of Leith. There are lots of places you can join it, and pretty much all of the segments are pretty.

(My favourite bits are between Canonmills and the Modern Art Museum.
