I suspect that you're correct on that point.

I think Dominic Cummings may be behind this, in order to "thought-police" the Beeb. And whoever's behind it, I wonder how long before they're forced to disavow the revival of Doctor Who. Especially given the Doctor's new prominence as part of the "T" in "LGBT"...

Just to say that article by Benjamin Butterworth has already had the headline corrected once, isn’t supported by any actual statement, and there are BBC staff in his Twitter asking him what the fuck he’s on about. Also the odd petition to privatise the BBC in response. There’s a case to be made that he’s shit stirring and if so it’s incredibly damaging.

I've seen multiple stories and statements about this. Nothing indicating that at least some staff aren't being told they can't go to Pride.

Particularly, this bit of the clarification is seen by many as being about transgender rights:

Most people don't drink enough water, or they get it in nasty stuff like soft drinks, which leads to other health problems. It is observable that drinking more water is good for one's skin. I noticed this long ago: whenever I had a cold and spent a few days subsisting on soup, my skin cleared up. Moisturiser is necessary in a cold, dry climate, but you have to drink enough water too.
