Are *you* the unnecessary pedant?
Too often. Not so much with colloquial grammar, but my brain still pings at anything "not right" a lot, which is often good but sometimes bad.

Date: 2020-08-11 12:59 pm (UTC)I _am_ a "Less Vs Fewer" pedant. In that I can't help but point out to people who try to be pedantic about it that "this rule does not correctly describe the most common usage of today or the past and in fact arose as an incorrect generalization of a personal preference expressed by a grammarian in 1770".

As a Glaswegian, I think there should be a specific swear word ranking for the West Coast of Scotland. We tend to be more, um, liberal with the profanity. As Frankie Boyle said in his latest stand up, "The use of f*cking in a sentence in Glasgow is just a warning that a noun is coming up."
