Did you see this?

Seaside town's hi-tech anti-sex toilets will spray users with water
Loos in Porthcawl, south Wales, will feature weight sensors and sound alarms to stop anti-social use
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/aug/16/seasides-town-new-toilets-feature-high-tech-anti-sex-measures

a) discriminates against fat people, as the spray is weight-triggered

b) against wheelchair users as the spray is weight-triggered and power wheelchairs can weight 150kg EMPTY - also water can destroy a power wheelchair that costs $$,$$$!

c) discriminates against anyone who needs a carer to come into the toilet with them for safety reasons including Disabled/chronically ill people and children

I'd read of such things. Horrible choice, given the assumptions they decided to make about who was to be prevented from using the toilets for which purposes.

But then, I'm already inclined towards this thinking having read uTOpia, which had a chapter on the subject of the usages of public toilets, and how wide-ranging they have to be regardless of what their users think of each other.

And then if you get access, you have to be the right sort of person (or at least pass presentably as the right sort of person)..........

I suppose I'm privileged in that I do.

1. The more I think about it, the more I come to believe that one of the lesser - and lesser-realized - contributing factors leading to Cpl. Nathan Cirillo's murder at the War Memorial here in Ottawa in 2014 is that we have a lack of publicly accessible toilets on the streets of the city.

Because of that lack, a handful of people used the War Memorial as an improvised urinal on Canada Day 2006. Because they were caught doing so, the honour guard was instituted the following year. Because that honour guard has been in place from 2007 onwards, Cpl. Cirillo was on duty that horrible day in 2014. I doubt that I'm the first to link those events in that way, but even so...

3. Labour committed an Error on that occasion. :-(
