I read the sexist joke one (NOT NEWS TO MOST WOMEN) and then the one about Chris Pratt's church. I think they're linked. It's probably impossible to have an independent conscience. I think that what someone considers to be Terrible is not easily subject to outside influence, not once you're an adult, but areas on which you can be swayed are massively influenced by whom you associate with and trust.

I work at a bank, normally pretty conservative on clothing, but a while ago they introduced a "Dress for your Day" policy, meaning that if you were meeting clients/important people, you still need to dress up, but everyone else can relax.
Pretty much everyone on the "Tech" side is now in some variant of jeans-and-t-shirt :)
