Date: 2003-07-31 03:26 am (UTC)I can't think of any job I'd do if I was independentely wealthy.
The two don't necessarily correlate in that way.

Date: 2003-07-31 05:23 am (UTC)I *do* really enjoy my job. My ideal job, which is way different from mine, would be a film reviewer for a magazine. I can't think of anything I'd rather do more to make money.
If I was independently wealthy, I still wouldn't do that (given the choice). I'd rather spend the time watching more films.
If I felt I had time to give, I'd do voluntary work - but I don't consider that a 'job', I consider that giving of yourself.

Date: 2003-07-31 06:17 am (UTC)There are so many places to see, books to read, films to watch, albums to listen to, games to play etc etc, I'd *never* get bored.
I've decided people who say "If I won the lottery, I'd have to work part time, even just on a voluntary basis, or I'd be bored" simply lack imagination, and don't deserve to win the lottery.
Whereas I do.
Obviously.

Date: 2003-07-31 03:38 am (UTC)I'm sitting at my desk, waiting for David to sort out SQL permissions so that I can add data to a table trough FileAid because, despite winning the lottery, I love working here so much I couldn't give it up.

Date: 2003-07-31 10:53 am (UTC)However, if I was independently wealthy I *would* hire folks to do the drudge parts of the job that I don't like, and also would drop my amount of energy expenditure down to "what I felt like", on my own time scale. It'd probably be somewhere between 20 and 60 hours a week.
