I'm saving that team-building story for future reference when people want to do team-building activities!

I've done good team building.

Whole team went out to a children's home and spent the day painting, digging, weeding, etc. Got a huge sense of achievement out of it, and bonded nicely.

It's not for everyone, but it worked well in that case.

Last year my team did an escape room and had a meal together (and got to slope off home early when we were done). It was fun. We also do a monthly team lunch out together - venue selection rotates through the team and attendance is optional but everyone comes along at least some of the time. It definitely helps the camaraderie.

Yeah, team lunches can be nice.

Best to keep them optional though. And I last about a.c.an Hour in that situation before running out of social.

Doing something actually useful probably helps a lot. I remember working at a place where a team-building exercise was taking place. Odd to be confronted by an adult leading a blindfolded one around the grounds. It was a big company, but I wasn't surprised it got taken over a little while later.
