Most of the DC movies have been full-on Grimdark, and the reviews have been mediocre to the point where I didn't both with Justice League or Batman vs Superman. Wonder Woman was pretty good, with some nice moments, but didn't grab me in the same way that most of the Marvel movies have.

So it's great to see two trailers that looks like a lot of fun.

Aquaman has a nice sensawunda about it, and a light-heartedness which makes it look actively fun:

and Shazam has the same sense of teenage silliness that the recent Spider-Man went for, and looks all the better for it:

I will be there for Jason Momoa if nothing else...

Why are DC movies all bluish-green and dark? When we see this kind of persistently skewed color in a painter's work, we speculate on whether they had some kind of vision problem or eye damage.

Oh yeah, those both look reasonably promising!

Shazam looks very shot in Toronto (and set in Philadelphia, going by the SEPTA sticker). There's a shot of Toronto subway near Victoria Park station, a bunch of shots of Toronto subway stations, a Toronto TTC bus, and a Toronto-looking high school (Central Tech? Harbord Collegiate? Trinity College?).

I'm meh about both of them, though. Aquaman looks visually spectacular but the dialogue sounds gratingly clichéd to me.
