I've always liked the Venetian voting method. I think Mark Pack is on to something, that the complexity ensured that it appeared nearly impossible to game the system.

The blurry bits on the sides of the shark video is just how some phones record videos when in portrait mode, I think. I doubt the BBC or the guys who took the video added it.
