I can't say this surprises me.

I think that it is the case that most of the population of England don't much care about whether Northern Ireland is part of the UK or part of the Republic of Ireland. I think most Brexit supporters would consider Northern Ireland leaving to be a price worth paying.

I suspect that if the current government were not depending on the votes of the DUP they might be a little more explicit about Nothern Ireland leaving in order to make Brexit easier.

I don't disagree, but I also think a lot of Brexiteers are so deeply convinced of England's innate superiority that their imagination cannot encompass the idea that Northern Irelanders might want to leave.

That might well be true. I'm not sure it's a thing that a Scot can say from within Scotland.

If it's true, what happens when Northern Ireland has a referendum on re-unification?

I don't know the answer to that question. If I did, I would be down the bookie, not here. Many factors could influence this, I think, not the least of which is Russia.
