I wish I had kept up more sporting activity during my school years and in to university.

My observation of PE in Australia was that it was able to be more inclusive because the weather was more clement and there was more of a wide spread culture of being active. This meant that there were more varieties of sporting activity and the popular sports had several teams and this allowed more people to find a sport and a level that suited them.

I wish I knew what it was that meant that although I am awful at PE I rather liked it.

I was happier having to go for allergy injections than doing PE when I was at school!

The _Guardian_ talks about the species going extinct, but in fact the white rhino is the least endangered rhino species there is, with around 17,500 of them alive. The northern white rhino is a subspecies, not a species (as the Twitter thread you link to correctly observed). So we’re not about to lose another species.

I detested PE, and managed to get out of it while in what you'd call 5th form. (Changing rooms and showers, possibly the worst part, were introduced in 4th.) But I don't think the suggestions here would have been much help to me. It doesn't say anything about eliminating the changing rooms. The indoor offerings for the non-athletic would mostly be held in those noxious rooms, they were mindbogglingly boring, and included table tennis, at which I was completely hopeless. Could not hit the ball. At all.

What's more, football (soccer) was one of the least objectionable sports. Of course I never got the ball, but I didn't want it. At least I could run around outside for a while and stay out of everyone else's way. Far worse was baseball, even in the milder version we played called softball, and I think this would apply to cricket as well. Whether batting or fielding, there you had to deal with a ball, which was coming at you at great speed. Not only could I neither catch nor hit, every instinct was telling me GET OUT OF ITS WAY.

You're lucky if you didn't have to play basketball, which is like indoor football on a much smaller court and with consequently far more sweaty bumping up against the other players, or American football, which is armored rugby, an insane sport that should never have been invented.

My wife's nephews played American Football at university. It's a sport that is growing in popularity in UK universities.

My mother-in-law calls it Space Man Rugby.

Looks very cool. I particularly like that it all works client-side, so it's much faster than similar things I've seen online before.

For those who like command-line tools, ImageMagick is still the bee's knees. It can appear to be a bit of a Swiss-Army Chainsaw, but I find it easy enough to find the little bit I need.
