Re: the woman losing her job . . . in the U.S. what she did would've violated HIPAA which is a Federal law protecting patient privacy rights - I don't know if a nursing home here would fire someone for their first infraction, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Same in Canada. Violating people's medical privacy will get you fired, AND then fined, even if you don't make it public.
