Yes, that's definitely a "who do you trust?" moment, between something I've been using for a while (which is no guarantee) and a warning from liltinkerer, someone I've never heard of.

Honestly I don't use NoScript myself. I used to use it, plug it on my blog and think it was all that until I realized it really is destroying the Internet. Using Ghostery or any reputable adblocker is more flexible, allows pages to load faster (yes, faster) and does it more naturally while maintaining much more of their intended appearance. NoScript goes about solving the problem badly. And if you really want its features without all the hassle there are tiny little add-ons like Toggle JavaScript (its actual name) that do the same thing without NS's overkill.

I consider NoScript and NukeThemAll to be the two primary web page destroyers on the Internet (besides Internet Exploder, which still regularly blows up webpages on my Win 8 phone like targets in a simulated wargame -the only thing missing is better graphics when they do blow up. I'd like to see all kinds of sparkly shit, like fireworks, for instance, every time I lose another web page to its antics. Especially since that's like, every 5 minutes).
