I think I'd wet myself, which hopefully wouldn't be as potentially fatal as erupting in a sudden nosebleed.

Wow, if that doesn't just give you the creeps. Poor guy!

I saw one on television where the surfer was being filmed, and you could see the shark just leap up out of the wave and grab him. Argh!

The cool thing was, the guy survived in large part because his friends waded out in chest-deep water to get him back to shore. Those are some really, seriously brave friends, to walk into bloody, shark-infested waters like that.

I have to admit that my initial reaction would be one of wonder, I'd be excited as hell . . . and overlooking the obvious danger of it all; assuming it turned out bad, I'd [with any luck] recover thinking it was neat. I'd be hoping someone photographed it, as they did for this guy.

Not to say I'm brave, I'm not.
I just get caught up in the moment of wonder and overlook the obvious downside.
Not to say I'm an optimist, I'm not.
I'm just simple.
I'm just not right.

O.

I feel awful now, because my initial reaction wasn't "wow", but "photoshop". Which questions whether, in this age of artificial everything, CGI universe... I can't tell the difference between real and fake.

Which is just unsettling.

Though I'll bet it's not as unsettling as ^^ that ^^. Ok. I've put myself in his position. He's gotta be thinking "maybe I'll just catch the next wave back to shore, and stay there for a few years"

You're not alone, I thought the exact same thing.

Well, it depends what you really think of the person on the board in front. I can think of two or three people who would achieve their finest destiny as sharkfood.... :-)

I'm a vegetarian.
I don't insist that other human beings should be vegetarian, and still less sharks.
Besides, what's the difference between George Bush and a vegetable (http://www.livejournal.com/users/samverick/116326.html)?

It could be worse. Imagine if the shark was facing the opposite direction, i.e. towards the guy.
