It would seem that closed ideology echo chambers are not restricted to politics but present in many places, including the Catholic Church. These guys, trusted authority figures dealing with some of the most vulnerable adults and children in society, belonging to an organisation that is supposed to be doing Good Works, how could they not know that abusing children is plain morally wrong, let alone illegal.

How could they not know?

An organisation that allowed (allows?) child abuse to persist, unpunished, barely punished, covered up, or somehow sickly justifies it while moving perpetrators to new locations to give them fresh starts (and fresh victims in some cases) is truly rotten.

Let's see some justice done. 'Ignorance' should be no protection from the law.

people that see themselves as being "good" let them get away with so much more, because they believe that anything they do must be a good thing.

Plus, also, that they can't do bad things. "Good" people, nice respectable people, aren't racist, that's those lowlife skinhead thugs, not that nice Mr Helmer, etc etc.

It applies in so many different fields, it's really quite worrying.
