Date: 2012-10-14 11:01 am (UTC)Dads are taking more time off and that actually can make it easier to replace them in the workplace. It's a lot harder to find someone to fill in for a two or three month parental leave than for six months or a year.
Moms are enjoying the flexibility of being able to choose how long they stay home with new-born or adopted children without having to worry about finding good daycare spaces.
Day-cares are even better off because they don't have to provide as many of the high staff to child ratio infant care spots for children under six months of age.
I happen to think that the kids are generally better off having either up to six months with both parents, or up to a year with at least one parent home.
